*NEW* Point 15: brief synopsis

Image
My story plan is that the beginning is going to start off with the star standing in front of a mirror, in the bathroom. The camera is going around the star until it reaches a certain position. The star is bowing down until they cannot be seen anymore and the artist appears to lip-sync. Both of them are only going to be seen through the mirror. When the artist is finished, the star comes back up with black eyes and black liquid dropping out of her mouth, then she screams and the light turns off. The black eyes and liquids illustrate the "demon" that exists in every human being. It is a side that doesn't show often, but when it does, it destroys everything the person worked hard for. The light turns back on but this time we are in a white room where the star sits on a chair, looking lifeless. Suddenly, she starts dancing with her upper body, stands up and reaches for the camera. The star collapses to the floor, out of frame, behind her the artist sits on the chair holding h...

*NEW* Point 14: images of the artist

Image
One of my images will feature the star having black eyes, which is shown in the pictures above. I will achieve this by filming the necessary scenes without any dangerous props. Nonetheless, there will be black edible liquid involved to create the scenes with black liquid coming out of the star's mouth. As for the eyes, I will use the platform After Effects to create the black eyes.

Point 13: Artist logo/brand

Image
My chosen Artist is going to be called "solise". The name has two meanings, "sun" from the South African side and "we do recover" from the English side. I personally think, that this name fits the artist I have in mind, because of their aesthetic. The artist is going to create the Indie Kid aesthetic, but at the same time alternative and psychotic. The name Solise feels like a fit for both. I like to image names as the wall that surrounds the personality of every human being. Names can be really pretty, but a dark soul might lie below it, ready to be awaken when the time has come. and again, the quality is absolute   trash  but there is nothing I can do, sooooo suffer I guess?

*NEW* Point 12: Moodboard

Image
Task number 12 required us to create a mood board for the music video, so I went straight to work. Blogger unfortunately always messes up the quality but I did what I could!  It was quite hard for me to find the perfect images that describe what I want to go for in my music video. Eventually, Pinterest spits these images out and I could not be happier. They describe the story and could explain the unexplained scenes in the video, also known as Enigma. This Mood board demonstrates the story but also the theme I wanted to focus on within my video.  Furthermore, this mood board fits into the topic "anthem", as most anthem genre songs or music videos have a deeper meaning behind every lyric or scene. This is what I want to focus on. I want the storyline to be different from the lyrics and just from time to time to fit, just with a different interpretation.  A good example of this would be "Pompeii" by Bastille and "Pumped up kicks" by Foster The People.

*NEW* Point 11: Statement of Intent (Draft)

Image
Music Video My music video will fit into the genre "anthem", my chosen song is "Mr Brightside" by The Killers and my target audience is grunge kids aged between 16 - 25. The concept of my music video is for my artist to be playing the main role in the video. The main gist of the storyline will be about a character struggling with her mental health, which is demonstrated by black hands that are going to pull her in all directions and leave marks on her. Another important character is going to be the dancer, who illustrates the battle between the protection of the character and the bad mental health that dares to destroy them. This is quite a common situation that the character finds themselves in. A lot of people struggle to fight mental illnesses and get to know how hard this battle is, how dangerous and disruptive. Because there are elements of symbolic meanings for the battles that survivors have to go through, which is why I believe that my target audience wi...

Point 10: Key elements

Image
Point 10 is all about including stuff, to make my music video fit the genre. In this case it is "anthem". I am gonna make a list about everything that I absolutely need to include to conform the expectations of the genre, how the target audiences is going to be aimed at and what is expected of the video. narrative story with lots of questions unanswered convincing performance and acting perfect aesthetic custome and make-up fit appropriate lighting and colour choice on beat cuts cinematic editing keeping my chosen elements from "Things to consider" - Things I want to include convincing lip-syncing  props

*NEW* Point 9: perfect audience member

Image
My perfect audience member does not appear on the uktrides webpage but is pretty popular nowadays thanks to Billie Eilish. The aesthetic I want to focus on is Horror or Horrorcore. This aesthetic does come with a Trigger Warning: This aesthetic has the potential to touch on dark subjects such as real-life murder and acts of violence. Because this is still a school project I will not go into detail with these also please keep in mind that none of these things will appear in any way on my blog, artist website or music video. Horror is a genre of speculative fiction that is intended to frighten, scare, disgust (NOT on my blog or anywhere else!) or startle its readers by inducing feelings of horror and terror. Literary historian J. A. Cuddon defined the horror story as "a piece of fiction in prose of variable length which shocks, or even frightens the reader, or perhaps induces a feeling of repulsion or loathing". It creates an eerie and frightening atmosphere. Horror is frequent...

Point 8: Copyright permission

Image
For the next task I obviously had to E/Mail the company that holds the copyright to ask for permission. It was easy to find out who owns the copyright as someone recently purchesed almost all copyrights from The Killers. I know that the quality is absolute garbage, but it is not like I can do anything about it soooo, kindly deal with it hehe

*NEW* Point 7: Things to consider - what I want to include

Image
We got introduced to "Things to consider"  a few lessons ago and now we have to think about what three points we want to include in our music video.  In today's lesson, we talked about Enigma , which basically means that a lot of questions are open. For example David Guetta feat. Sia "Titanium": What happened at school? Where were his parents? and so on. Or, in other words: the whole music video is a mystery. Many unanswered questions, and maybe even do not make sense to some, but also leave a big space for the viewer's imagination. Example: The next thing to consider, that I want or need to include, is lighting. Lighting is going to be the main key to settling the mood for the music video and keeping the vocal point in focus. Lighting helps a lot to concentrate on the main part of a clip or scene and, like I said before, it can change the emotions throughout the scenes. A good example of that is Billie Eilish's "lovely" and "bad guy...

Point 6: Past videos from The Killers

Image
Three videos and why I like them I researched the Artist "The Killers" and watched a few music videos from the past. For this task I am going to chose three videos that I like and state why they caught my interest.  The Killers - Human The reason why I like the music video for "Human" so much, is because they never left the colour scheme they went for. It was all gold, yellow-ish with black and white. Furthermore, I like the idea of putting short films about different animals in the video. It gives of a brave vibe.  The Killers - Smile like you mean it Another music video that I really like. It is especially the editing and camerawork that has caught my attention. The camera work makes it feel like a little movie, while the editing gives off a kind of supernatural style. Eventhough the editing does not really change throughout the video, they kept it interesting by making it messy and going wild with it, trying new things. The Killers - When you were young T...

Point 5: Chosen song

Image
My chosen song is... It is finally time to chose the song, that I am going to use for my NEA. It was a really easy choice for me, as I already have an idea for the music video and what it is about. I decided on " Mr. Brightside " by The Killers. The reason why I chose this song, is really simple. Like I said before, I already have an idea for the music video, and because the song is about being broken because of another person and also its music video, it really fits with what I have in mind. As you can see, Lawrence reflected the topic heartbreak turning into madness really good in their music video and throughout the video the singer does not seem to stop being jealous. What I really like is the fact that he tries to tell him, it was only a kiss and nothing more. They illustrate the anger about wanting to be with someone, but knowing at the same time, that he cannot be mad because she does not belong to him.

Point 4: Anthem genre mindmap

Image
Mindmap For this task I had to create a mindmap that gives an idea of what is included in the genre "Anthem". So, here you go!

Point 3: Sony Music Entertainment

Image
A deeper look into one of the most well-known Music Entertainments For this Task I had to research the History and Structure of Sony Music Entertainment, as this is going to be where the artist is under contract with! I will put a link to the presentation down below. Please do not steal this, I put a lot of effort in it!
