*NEW* Point 11: Statement of Intent (Draft)
Music Video
My music video will fit into the genre
"anthem", my chosen song is "Mr Brightside" by The Killers
and my target audience is grunge kids aged between 16 - 25. The concept of my music video is for my artist to be playing the main role in the video. The main gist of the storyline will be about a character struggling with her mental health, which is demonstrated by black hands that are going to pull her in all directions and leave marks on her. Another important character is going to be the dancer, who illustrates the battle between the protection of the character and the bad mental health that dares to destroy them. This is quite a common situation that the character finds themselves in. A lot of people struggle to fight mental illnesses and get to know how hard this battle is, how dangerous and disruptive. Because there are elements of symbolic meanings for the battles that survivors have to go through, which is why I believe that my target audience will relate to the music video. This idea will be different to what The Killers have done in the past up until now. A lot of artists in the Sony Music Group talk about mental health issues like Avicii, Katy Perry and the members of Little Mix, so I think it will be fitting with their core values. For this project, I will use real people and showcase the talent that the people I will work with have, as well as having the artist lip-sync and act. I will be using Mise-en-scene by including props like paint and a chair for the performer to use and certain locations that I may have to manipulate because some locations are not in my reach. The reason why I chose these is because of the symbolic meaning I was talking about earlier. Using a paint can be a unique way to express certain feelings that may be hard to describe or even explain. I also believe that this kind of prop is going to help bring joy to the crew that is going to help me, which leads to a much calmer aura all around and better teamwork. For this project, I want to focus on colour, acting and performance in general. I want to include demonic black eyes which will be added in After effects, together with Speed ramping and 3D effects. At the same time, I want the viewer to have their own imagination about what each performer represents and what the story is about. If I am not satisfied with the outcome and there is no turning back, I will have to use After Effects and other software to correct it. Dancing will take a relatively big part in the video as it may get a clearer idea of the story. I am hoping to end up with an enigma that leaves the viewer thinking and interpreting the story. I want to leave them with questions, as I believe that something that doesn't seem to make sense, will be stuck in one's mind for a long time. My goal is to create a professional-looking setting and I hope that my transitions will be clear and clean.
Website
For the website, I am hoping to have separate pages for each category to keep it all simple and easy to overview. I am obviously not going to create a social media account, however, I will put on links to everything related to the project. About the merchandise, I will put some of the photographs, which I take during filming, but also before anything else, on t-shirts, bags and hats. Nonetheless, I want to keep a specific colour scheme and fonts throughout the whole website, to make the viewer feel like, they did not leave the music video vibe behind after watching. I imagine a huge front page with a photograph as a background which I personally have taken and edited, to create an eye-catching site. My website is going to be clear and easy to overlook, with the newest news and albums about the artist on the front page, further down. I will put the Sony Music Entertainment logo at the very bottom and a link to their website to show that my art is signed to this company and to support them as well, by sending some of my viewers to them. Finally, I will add a personal photoshoot in connection to the photo shoot and add a variety of behind-the-scenes images on the page, which you can only have access to on my page, and nowhere else. Since keeping the viewers as long as possible on my page, I fully believe that specifically, these will attract them to stay longer and look at the photographs.
How I intend to link my media products to demonstrate my knowledge :
Branding is incredibly important in every business. To brand and promote my artist, I will create a webpage for merchandise which fits the music video vibe and includes images from the photoshoot. This is a great way to be heard in public and get more viewers and listeners. Furthermore, I will create an outstanding logo for my artist, which is going to be the very first thing you see when people access my website. Below is the music video and underneath news and latest albums. At the end of the music video, I am going to include the artist's logo and record company. The unique selling point on my website is going to be the behind the scene images and music video-inspired shoot, as I stated before, my page is going to be the only place where it is shown.
