Point 39: check for any more mistakes

I checked with Grammarly again for any written text that I have on my website and I did find one or two mistakes, but these were fixed within seconds. I checked if the sections were still in the middle of the website and that the stickers are not cut off on the sides.  However, I did notice a bar at the bottom of the website which you can pull to the side and it changes the sections by dragging them further to the right. I cannot get rid of this and it really starts to annoy me. I will try and see if that is only a laptop problem. It happens to be a laptop problem. It is annoying but there is nothing I can do. I also found another little mistake in connection with the album cover that I created myself. The album cover has the wrong album name on it, so I quickly changed it.

Point 38: Process of the website

Creating a new website and having to stick to one specific video that does not exist yet, was quite a challenge for me. I have the colour palette and video visually in front of my eyes, however, I do not have the finished product from which I can check if what I do is correct.  First I used several different website templates from the category "Musician" and tried to turn them into my website. This took a really long time and after hours I realised that this template was just not working for me so I picked a new one. This happened exactly 4 times until I gave templates up and created a website from scratch. This was much easier than I imagined and ended up having more fun organising and adding what I want than trying and adapting my ideas into an already existing template.  After putting everything in place on the homepage I turned to the other web pages such as "ABOUT", "GALLERY" and "SHOP". A lot of back and forth went into these pages. The rea...

Point 37: create your web pages

Just a few days ago I finished the web pages and matched the aesthetics for my target audience. I really hope that I managed to fit their colour scheme and stayed faithful to the music video at the same time. It was harder than I expected because I do not have the full music video yet on which I could have orientated myself.

Point 35: Drafting text and correction

Image
To correct my text on my website I used Grammarly. The reason why I chose Grammarly is simply that I love using it. I have been using this program since I came here (often it does not work though) but it really helps me improve and learn about the English language.  However, I also let my teacher have a look at it and friends so that it does make sense to others as well.

Point 34: Things I need for my website

Checklist: - Photo shoots which I can use to fill my website and the gallery - Behind the scenes shots to create a deeper connecting with the fans - Sticking with specific font styles throughout the navigation sites - Merchandise: trying to match the font and style of merch the music video - Working policy links - tour dates so that the website feels more recent and fit in - Uploading the music video so that fans can watch it immediately on the website - Trying not to focus as much on the acual artist of the song, but creating a whole new one - Also including the whole "The Killers" album so that music plays whereever they go

Point 33: rough sketch of website

Image
This is a rough sketch of my website. It illustrates what I have in mind for my website. The photos you see above is the homepage on which you con scroll down. If you are on the homepage, the HOME button at the top left corner on the cream background turns pink. To get to another category, just click on one of the buttons next to the logo, like ABOUT, in which case you can get to know the artist and read about her life. For the font I have chosen to use san serif font (historical), as it fits not only the website but also the music video and it's vibe to it. However, I will also use a different font style in specific categories and a different colour scheme, because my music video covers 2 to 3 colourschemes, that I want to represent on my website.  For the bright side of the website, I will use clean fonts and bold colours to represent the first aesthetic I chose to go for. The dark side will cover sans serif font and dark and almost uncomfortable colours, illustrating another aes...

Point 32: Weebly or Wix?

We got asked, if we chose Weebly or Wix to built our artist website and to explain why we chose the website builder over the other. For my music Artist I used Wix. The reason for that is because I was already a bit familiar with the platform as I created several websites on it when I was new to media. So, it was simple for me to use it, even though there is still stuff that is new to me. It is fun exploring and going deeper into a platform you already used and finding so much more to learn.  In the end, I know that Wix is easier to get a specific vibe across and through the screen, but is also more difficult to make everything perfect and fitting.  One important thing that I noticed about Wix however, is that they often do not have the fonts that I use in - for example - the logo or the Single Cover, but also the merchandise fonts. For this reason I use familiar fonts and create a rather clean look.

Point 31: Must include in website

Image
Point 30 is asking for a checklist for what needs to be included in the website, so that the target audience, genre and the expectations of a music artist website are covered and speak to them.

Point 30: Map of an already existing website making

Point 29: research band websites

Image
For this task I looked at The Killers website, to first get an overall idea of an "anthem" vibe website.  In the end, I researched more artists that cover the same music genre as The Killers.  I ended up with "Arctic Monkeys" and "Imagine Dragons". First I looked at their homepages.  The Killers:     Arctic Monkeys: Imagine Dragons:  Similarities: The first thing that is noticeable is the colour scheme. All three artists mostly sticked to a darker theme with little to no bright colours. However, having the name of the band in white letters seems to be a common thing. As far as I can judge, using more historical fonts is more pleasing to the websites, which is why two of the three has used sans serif fonts throughout their website.  The Arctic Monkeys used only one specific font type on their website, which makes the website simple and creates a clear structure. Furthermore, all websites have an interactive homepage, combined with advertisement for the ...

Point 26: Rough edit

Image
Find my rough edit here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N--t1pzCFeI  Keep in mind that this is not finished and edited in any way. The final product will look different from what it is now!

Point 24: Evidence of shooting

You can also find these videos and images and more on my website!   This is obviously not everything. The quality is horrible but there is nothing I can do.  Find much  more on my website!

Points 23, 25, 27

All these points are not directly physical stuff. Most of this you will either find on my website or in the finished music video.

*NEW* Point 22: Costumes and props

Image
Costumes and props are really important, even in my music video they play a specific role. Because I play every role myself, I have to find the perfect fit, for which I can ask the drama teacher.  For this reason, I chose to create a little chart for each character and what they are going to wear: Made with Piktochart

Point 21: cast members

Image
Another task to do that appears on my checklist, are the cast members. I am extremely shy and work best on my own, I will be the one and only cast member. I will play every role, do the camera work and edit all by myself. The reason for that is simple: I know what I want and how to do it. I am aware that it can be frustrating at times but in the end, editing is key.  When I start doing the music video, I will maybe ask one or two friends for make-up and filming, if I really have to. I will update them on here if I consider doing so.

*NEW* Point 20: Location shots

Image
For one of the locations, I chose the OGstoun Drama department. The stage matches what I have in mind with a few scenes. Here, I can create the illusion of a white room pretty easily, or I am gonna go to the art department for that. Anyways, the stage is going to be one of the main locations for the dancer.   A bathroom is going to be one key location as well. This is where it all starts. The reason why I chose the bathroom is easy because if I make a mess, I can clean it up quickly afterwards.  Another location is the art department for the white room illusion. Furthermore, my room is going to be another location where I am going to film. It will be where the closing scene takes place.
