Point 29: research band websites
For this task I looked at The Killers website, to first get an overall idea of an "anthem" vibe website.

In the end, I researched more artists that cover the same music genre as The Killers.
I ended up with "Arctic Monkeys" and "Imagine Dragons".
First I looked at their homepages.
The Killers:
Arctic Monkeys:
Imagine Dragons:

Similarities:
The first thing that is noticeable is the colour scheme. All three artists mostly sticked to a darker theme with little to no bright colours. However, having the name of the band in white letters seems to be a common thing. As far as I can judge, using more historical fonts is more pleasing to the websites, which is why two of the three has used sans serif fonts throughout their website.
The Arctic Monkeys used only one specific font type on their website, which makes the website simple and creates a clear structure. Furthermore, all websites have an interactive homepage, combined with advertisement for the artists latest release and their tours (if they have one). In connection to the tours, Imagine Dragons and The Killers put down the dates and where the tour goes, together with a sign-up button for news about their songs and merch. Noticeable is also the fact that The Killers and Imagine Dragons use the homepage to advertise and show off their merchandise and an oppurtunity to watch their latest music video (The Killers and Arctic Monkeys).
Not only are their homepages and structures similar to one another, but they also have some categories in common. "Tour", "Merch" and the "Gallery" (as I call it) are common on all three pages. Tour and Merch are pretty much self explanatory, however "Gallery" covers photos and videos about the band and behind the scenes, giving the fans a chance to have a deeper look into the artists daily life.
As you can see, all three websites have their social media links at the top, leading directly to their sites if you click on them. In addition to this, white lettering and having the band name in the middle on the top part of the website is a popular layout.
Representing the artist through the website is quiet a hard task, especially when it is not a solo artist. I noticed that the category "Photos" illustrates the artist the best. Uploading photographs of the music video in making inspired shoot can help get a great idea of the artist or publishing Behind The Scenes images underlines the artists appearance behind the camera.
